Work experience with the BBC at MediaCityUK

BBC Work Experience Applications see link below.

BBC now open for work experience applications for January, February and March 2015. Choose your placement and apply below.

This is your chance to join us for a short time to learn about what we do and help you decide what you want to do in the future.

How it works

We have four application windows every year and each one will last two weeks. There are several categories of Work Experience available in each location. You can only choose one category in one location. There is no separate category for online work, but all of categories offer placements that have a strong interactive element.

When you choose your location and category and fill in your online application, we’ll ask you some questions about your interests and passion for your chosen placement. If you are successful, we’ll do our best to match you to a placement that’s right for you.

What can I expect?

Every work experience placement is different, but they’re all designed to give you the opportunity to make the most of your time with us. When you arrive, your Placement Manager will want to find out more about you and what you want to get out of your time with us. They’ll try to get you involved in the things that interest you most.

Remember that work experience is unpaid but it’s a learning experience and not a job.

How can I apply?

First you need to choose your location and category. Click on the links below to get full details of each one and apply. Remember, you can only apply to one category in one location, so make sure you’ve read everything carefully before you apply.

Please be aware that we receive a lot of applications for work experience and we can’t offer a placement to everyone. If you’re not successful this time, you can apply during the next application window.

Unfortunately, we can’t offer feedback to unsuccessful candidates. If you would like some help with improving your application, you can get some great tips from the BBC Academy.

You can also follow @BBCRecruitment and @BBCTrainees on Twitter for events and tips about getting started at the BBC and in the media industry.

Digital Skills Festival 11-14th Feb

The digital sector in Manchester continues to grow and the businesses within our membership are booming, however we are currently experiencing a digital skills shortage that is so severe businesses are turning away work as they cannot recruit at the rate and levels they need.

Manchester has an ambition to become a digital city and in order to achieve this we need a large, highly skilled digital workforce and a pipeline of talent that will leave school, college and university with industry standard, work ready, digital skillsets.

The skills festival is a 4 day event that will highlight, address and discuss the issues facing the sector as well as tackling them on a practical level by offering tours of local digital businesses, a recruitment fair and the chance to give local school children some hands on practical experience of digital.  It is also a great chance to showcase the amazing digital businesses we have in the North West and show students that there are wonderful digital career opportunities on their doorstep.
